My approach to therapy

Our meetings will focus on those areas of concern that brought you to counseling. Areas of concern may be problems with particular people, or problems at work, substance abuse problems, concerns about family members, or general feelings of dissatisfaction with your life. You may want to talk about things that are causing stress, unresolved grief, sadness, anxiety, or any life crisis.

Once the problematic situations have been identified, the counseling work really begins.

Therapy can take many forms. I have chosen to use a combination of traditional talk therapy and coaching. I am formally trained and educated as a professional counselor but I find that the goal oriented nature of life coaching works well with many people. I also offer EFT by itself or in combination with talk therapy. EFT offers real solutions to specific areas of concern. Talking brings us to a more exact and complete understanding of what those areas really are.

What is therapy?

Therapy is talking and working with a trained professional to resolve either long term or temporary life issues. I use a goal oriented approach to help resolve current situations that may be presenting difficulties. We will discuss the past and try to put situations into perspective, but it is important to go forward from where you are now.

What is life coaching?

Life coaching is talking and working with a trained professional to resolve specific issues or transitions in the client’s personal life, relationships or profession by examining what is going on right now, discovering what your obstacles or challenges might be, and choosing a course of action to make your life be what you want it to be.

Commencing Therapy

On the first visit, we will discuss your areas of concern, what you’d like to change, and together we will begin to consider a plan of treatment. You will go over the proposed process to ensure that you as the client understand what is involved in counseling and what you can expect.

Background

I haved worked for 12 years on a wide variety of personal concerns.
I worked for several years with pre-bariatric patients, assessing them for suitability for weight loss surgery.
I have worked with clients who had to participate in court mandated counseling for many different reasons.
I have worked extensively with young adults and quarter-life issues.
I offer anger management programs.

Fees & Payments

I offer very reasonable self pay rates for those that prefer the absolute privacy of a non-insurance therapy setting. In order to accommodate clients that may find the cost of therapy prohibitive, I have a sliding scale fee schedule available.

My regular hourly rate is $50.

I offer Skype sessions.  I offer phone sessions.

I also offer different session lengths, another money-saving option. I accept all major credit cards.

I offer flexible options because I know that each person is unique and believe that one size does not fit all, especially in a therapeutic setting.  I am also available via phone and text for those times in between meetings when you want to chat.
